A Digi Project for the Men in Your Life

I love using the digital elements from a good scrapbooking kit to create altered art. This month’s free kit from ScrapWOW is really wonderful - and just perfect for a more masculine project. Using only Shelle Pukas’ new kit, Rustic Charm, some fibers and fonts, I created these bookmarks for all of the Dads out there! My last digi altered art project was the hat box for Mom, so it’s only right to make something for Dad!
I started out bringing up my Print Program (I used Scrapbook Factory, but Print Shop, Print Works, American Greetings Crafts, etc., will all work). I used their template for bookmarks and started filling in with the background papers and the digital embellishments. I added photos, phrases, and lettering. Here’s what I had before I printed it out:

From here, the crafting part was fun and simple. I printed this page out on glossy photo paper (to make a better looking, sturdier bookmark). Before laminating, I looked closely at my bookmarks. I cut them out, trimmed the edges, even inked the edges on a few of them. At this point you could add stickers, rub ons, or any flat embellishment. Then I ran them through the Xyron with the double sided laminate cartridge in. I punched holes for the ribbons/fibers, and tied them on. I really enjoyed making these - I can see making a different version as teacher’s gifts, Mother’s Day gifts - even tags on presents!
I do prefer to make these double sided, so I did make 2 copies of each and mixed and matched the different fronts and backs, and lightly adhered them together before I ran them through the Xyron. It makes for a more finished bookmark, but it is not necessary.
Here are the other two:
